Of the former 40 of those I managed, 3 called to see how I was doing.  The rest avoided me as if I am contagious.  A very uneasy feeling for all.  They all know that I won&#039;t be the last - just a matter of time.  My replacement is already on the way from the parent company - saved them from one more layoff, I guess.

True friends, however, are very important.  They have helped me get through this.  Ex-coworkers are too afraid to keep in touch.

I have a site that speaks to the financial aspects of a layoff. Not completely finished, but close.  Check it out if you get time.  beyond2009.com
